His parents as well insisted on his practising. He also played brass instruments and was a member a band in the city. He continued to practice even during the war and built a band of 10 people afterwards and was becoming known by more and more people.
These factors all helped him to stardom.
Kunz had many health problems that he tried to deal with.
Initially, he developed asthma which made him difficult to create recordings without the distraction of coughing. He lost one of his lungs because of a tubercular spine and spent 10 months in a plaster cast as a treatment. In 1953 he began to have problems with his hands called Dubtron Contraction and he thus had to undergo 5 operations. He had to also use a keyboard to stretch his fingers out and help them get better.
After all these, he decided to go back to work but his strength weakened and he died in 1958.
