Dear Madame, Dear Sir,
in accordance with the international law, we want to talk about the piracy phenomenon in order to focus our attention on a crime, that the most part of the people ignore but really present in the Asia hemisphere. As of 2014, the attacks on the barges, trawlers, tugs and oils tankers experienced a strong growth, especially in the Malacca Strait. It is also evident as the way of the attacks are conducted, radically changed in the last 4 years, passing from small attack to small tug with fewer fatalities, to advanced and more elaborated attack, that have also involved oil tankers. In accordance with the aforementioned affirmation, the international classification just collected more evidence of kidnapping, crew assault ecc. This upgrade brought to an increasing insurance cost for the insurance underwriters that are going to affect the final goods price for the consumers as well (not only for the shipping company). By the way, the Japanese authorities are looking for implementing a new law enforcement, focused on tackling more strongly this threat. A new strategy has been prepared as well, with a recommendation to avoid the choke points like Malacca Strait, making use of different and more controllable routs. To eradicate this phenomenon will be enough? May be not, but from something we have to start.
